Various styles are available in SketchUp Pro’s Layout extension for modifying the look of shape fills and line strokes via the Shape Style dialog box. We demonstrate how to do this in our SketchUp training courses.
We first click the Fill button to reveal the various shape fill colours. Next check the Fill Colour button to open the Colour Picker and choose a colour from the spectrum.
Next click the Stroke button to display the various colours available for the stroke, or outline of the shape.
To the right of this we have the stroke weight drop-down list. Note that these are measured in points; there are 3 points to a millimeter.
The Dashes drop-down list has various styles available. Select a scale from the list, or type in a value. It’s also possible to increase the start and end points of the current type. Corner styles may also be chosen from this dialog box. Arrows may also be added to the start and end points, as well as their relative scales.
See also the Dashed Lines option in the Draw drop-down menu.
Many useful tips and techniques can be found at the SketchUp website. And see many examples of our own clients’ work on our Facebook page.
